The incumbent will be responsible for managing the flow of goods within the organization, ensuring product traceability and availability, and ensuring the smooth operation of the logisticschain, often using computer tools and material handling equipment.
In this role, you will:
Responsibility 1: Logistics
Ensure complete management of logistics documentation related to receiving, shipping, and transportation operations.
Maintain the operations log rigorously, accurately, and continuously, including the entry, validation, correction, and transfer of operational data.
Ensure compliance with current procurement policies.
Ensure ongoing consistency between recorded data, printed documents, and the physical goods shipped or received.
Maintain daily operational communications with internal teams and various stakeholders to ensure smooth and continuous operations.
Continuously monitor the status of docks and receiving/shipping areas, and report any anomaly, delay, or critical situation requiring prompt action.
Actively participate in daily logistics needs planning.
Supervise logistics volunteers.
Participate in field logistics activities.
Contribute to actions aimed at maintaining a safe work environment.
Help maintain and manage the warehouse.
Responsibility 2: Emergency Response
Be an active member of one of the disaster response teams.
Ensure the implementation and regular updating of the various components of the Red Cross assistance program to provide a response appropriate to the needs of individuals covered by the recovery program.
Liaise with other assistance providers to support maximum coverage of needs.
Ensure service delivery complies with established standards and procedures.
Participate in operational debriefing sessions.
What we are looking for:
College-level diploma (DEC) in a relevant field.
3 years of experience relevant to the role, particularly in logistics and procurement. Any other combination of education and experience deemed equivalent may be considered.
Experience as a Red Cross volunteer in emergency management, particularly as a team lead/supervisor, is an asset.
Strong understanding of procurement, warehousing, transportation, and/or distribution processes.
Knowledge of and hands-on experience with computer tools, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Required to drive a cube van for travel, deliveries, or transportation of equipment.
Operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, in compliance with safety standards.
Experience working in a volunteer environment is an asset.
May be required to lift relief supplies weighing up to 20 kg (44 lb) during preparedness activities and emergency response.
Valid driver’s licence.
Working conditions:
May require field visits that could involve extended travel.
May need to work irregular hours (i.e., late evenings or weekends) and work long hours in a demanding environment.
May be required to take on-call shifts according to an established schedule, as applicable.
May be deployed anywhere within their geography, as needed.
