The Opportunity
As a Junior Building Sciences Technologist, you will contribute to shaping safer, more resilient, and longer‑lasting buildings across BC's Lower Mainland. You’ll gain hands‑on exposure to building performance, restoration, capital planning, and investigative work—both in the office and in the field. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, curiosity, and the opportunity to explore different environments.
Your Impact
- Contribute to building investigation reports, design documentation, and technical appendices alongside seasoned building science professionals.
- Participate in building envelope reviews, restoration assessments, site investigations, and condition verifications.
- Perform non‑invasive investigations that may involve ladders, heights, confined spaces, and detailed field measurements.
- Visit active construction sites to document observations, verify compliance, and collect field test results.
- Support our involvement with a wide variety of buildings across residential, commercial and education sectors.
- Develop towards specification writing and CRCA and project management roles.
- Conduct property condition assessments and prepare clear, detailed depreciation reports used by strata corporations, asset managers, and building owners.
- Develop capital plans that support long‑term decision‑making and responsible investment for diverse client groups.
- Enhance the team’s knowledge systems by sharing insights, lessons learned, and best practices.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Post‑secondary education in Engineering Technology, Building Science, Architectural Science, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Eligibility or registration with ASTTBC or EGBC.
- Foundational knowledge of building materials, construction processes, building envelope systems, and mechanical/electrical components.
- Ability to interpret drawings, collect field data, and synthesize findings into clear and concise reports.
- Comfortable working in varied field environments and performing hands‑on investigative tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience in consulting engineering, building assessments, or restoration work is considered an asset.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $57,500 – $76,200
MB & ON: $52,500 – $72,300
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $52,000 – $69,000
