About the role The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is centered around the idea that respect and understanding of human rights can serve as a positive force for change in the world. The IT Systems Administrator will collaborate with others in the organization to support our collective efforts to build a workplace culture that is inclusive, equitable, innovative, and focused on inspiring action. Reporting to the Manager of IT Operations and Security, the IT Systems Administrator plays a key role in supporting organizational operations by administering and maintaining information systems as well as network and security infrastructure. The incumbent also provides technical support for the organization. Approximately 50% of this position is project work, 30% is maintenance and administration of existing systems, and the remaining 20% is providing second level support. The incumbent will be a strong and thoughtful communicator, critical thinker, and innovator, and will bring a collaborative approach to their role. What you'll do Contribute to a culture that promotes respect, equity, inclusion and innovation, and models anti-racist and accountable behaviors. Leverage experience in technical support, service delivery and information systems maintenance to ensure a world class infrastructure. Engage in projects and rollouts of services in support of CMHR initiatives and interact with cross- functional teams. Manage the administration, configuration, and maintenance of IT systems. Monitor and maintain IT systems, ensuring their optimal performance. Implement and support network applications and services using secure network architecture and protocols. Maintain security and establish functioning controls such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, anti-malware, password policies and other security measures. Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions that detail benefits, risks and challenges. Maintain thorough and specialized processes, procedures, and instructional documentation. Assist and mentor technical support team members. Provide second-level support for hardware, software, security, and networking issues. Monitor, track and report issues and resolutions. Maintains current levels of technical certification. What we're looking for Post-secondary education at the certificate, diploma or degree level in Information Technology, and a minimum of five years’ experience in technical support in an Enterprise environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Recognized industry technical certification(s). Commitment to human rights principles, including respect, equity, inclusion, and dignity for all, including anti-racism. Strong technical proficiency in: Analytics and Troubleshooting of Firewall systems (Palo Alto) Analytics and Troubleshooting of HP Aruba Networks and Clearpass Windows, Linux Server Environments: Windows and Azure Identity and PKI OS Hardening Techniques Administration and support of Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID and Group Policy: Endpoint Detection and Response Tools SIEM tools Networking HPE Aruba switches and access points Palo Alto Firewall and GlobalProtect VPN WAN and LAN design and configuration Virtualization solutions such as Nutanix, Hyper-V and VMware Container solutions such as Docker and/or Kubernetes Microsoft 365 Products and Services: SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Teams Entra and Intune High availability solutions and disaster recovery options Storage and Backup solutions Software configuration management Software deployment and patch management Systems monitoring In-depth knowledge of industry best practices. Experience working with high availability solutions and disaster recovery options. Strong understanding of standard client/server, networking, security, and Internet fundamentals. Experience with working in and managing Dev/Test and Production environments. Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting skills. Developed decision-making techniques with the ability to determine solutions and decide on a course of action. Strong collaboration, interpersonal, project management and presentation skills. Strict attention to detail. Desired Qualifications Technical proficiency in: Defender and Purview Power Platform and Copilot Server Infrastructure (MS SQL Server) Security (Zero Trust, Defender, Conditional Access) Frameworks (ITIL, NIST CSF v2) Experience working for or providing service to a museum, cultural institution, or similar entity. Will be required to provide 24-hour on-call response, on a rotational basis.
