Nature & Scope

Join Our Team! Reporting to the Coordinator of Transportation and Administration, the successful candidate will fulfill a wide range of duties relating to picking up and transporting children by bus from their schools to the YMCA after School Care Centres. The Bus Driver is responsible for the transportation of children being safely transported from their school to their respective centre.


Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will:

  • Conduct pre-trip inspections and report any concerns to Coordinator
  • Safely transport children from their schools to their respective centres
  • Provide a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for children while ensuring safe passage to their destination
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to foster an inclusive environment that offers support, strategies, and resources for children with diverse needs to fully engage in the program.
  • Provide individualized support to children as needed within the program setting.
  • Contribute to a community culture of inclusion by recognizing and supporting each child's unique strengths and areas for growth.
  • Support children in resolving conflicts and consistently model respectful, positive behavior.
  • Assist in the creation, implementation, and ongoing review of individualized care plans to ensure consistent and responsive support.
  • Help maintainan enhanced staff-to-child ratio to ensure all children receive the attention they need, including one-on-one support when appropriate.


Qualification-you bring:

  • Class 4 Driver’s License or willingness to obtain
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Emergency First Aid and CRC – C & AED
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
