Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery to dig trenches for water and sewer pipelines, ensuring precise alignment and depth.
- Lead a team of excavator operators and laborers, coordinating daily activities and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-operation checks on equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and report any maintenance needs.
- Read and interpret blueprints and project plans to ensure accurate and efficient excavation processes.
- Monitor job site safety and enforce compliance with safety regulations and best practices among team members.
- Assist with the installation and backfilling of pipelines as needed, ensuring proper compaction and restoration of the work site.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and project objectives are met
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operating excavators, specifically for water and sewer projects.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience managing a team on excavation projects.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations regarding excavation and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
- Valid Heavy Equipment Operator License and other relevant certifications are preferred.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor when necessary and work in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required to meet project deadlines
