A career as a Portfolio Manager within National Bank Financial’s Portfolio Management team means acting as a subject matter expert in discretionary portfolio management and investment program oversight. In this role, you will have a direct impact on the quality, performance, and evolution of investment solutions offered at scale by leveraging your expertise in portfolio management, regulatory compliance, and process improvement.

Your Role

  • Support the Lead Portfolio Manager in overseeing discretionary management programs, private pooled funds, and model portfolios.
  • Advise Portfolio Managers and Wealth Management Advisors on portfolio management best practices, investment analysis, and risk management.
  • Develop and enhance technology tools and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency, program oversight, and overall performance.
  • Produce strategic analyses, reports, and recommendations to support decision-making and the continued evolution of portfolio management platforms.
  • Design documentation, training materials, and communication tools, and ensure their effective distribution to key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal partners, including Compliance, Technology, Operations, Legal, and Senior Management teams, to ensure sound governance of investment programs.

Reporting to the Lead Portfolio Manager, you will play a key role in supporting discretionary management programs and advancing portfolio management tools and practices. Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the securities industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CFA designation or CIM® certification.
  • Registered as a Portfolio Manager with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), or eligible for registration.
  • Extensive experience in discretionary portfolio management, investment mandate analysis, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio management, compliance, investment analysis, and risk monitoring platforms and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience developing analytical reporting and automating processes using tools such as Power Automate or Power Apps.

Languages: English, French Reason to require this language: you will need to work closely with our colleagues outside Quebec.
