Position Overview

The Breakdown Roller Operator at Professional Excavators & Construction Inc. is responsible for operating breakdown rollers to compact and prepare road surfaces and other construction projects. This role is vital to ensuring high-quality outcomes in asphalt paving and other earthworks while adhering to safety standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate breakdown rollers to compact asphalt and other materials during road construction and paving activities.
  • Ensure that compaction procedures are followed correctly to achieve the desired material density and surface quality.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Monitor job site conditions and notify supervisors of any issues that may affect work progress or quality.
  • Collaborate with other team members to facilitate efficient workflow and communication on site.
  • Document daily activities, including compaction reports and equipment performance, to maintain accurate records.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating breakdown rollers or similar heavy equipment in a construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of compaction processes and road construction techniques.
  • Valid Class 3 Driver's License with a clean driving record is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and in varying weather conditions.
