The Opportunity
Reporting to the Leader, National Casualty and Bodily Injury Claims, you have a track record of progressively challenging claims handling. You will be accountable for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of Intermediate Bodily Injury and Commercial General Liability claims, including claims involving complex liability and coverage issues.
You are motivated by a challenge and strive to continually develop yourself and others. You have effectively managed a portfolio of Bodily Injury, Accident Benefits, Property Damage, and/or Liability claims of increasing complexity. You continually support the Team environment and raise your hand to assist others. You have a desire to be part of a diverse, highly engaged and high-performance team.
What to Expect
- Reporting to the Team Leader, Casualty, you are accountable for managing a portfolio of Intermediate Bodily Injury and Commercial General Liability claims.
- Engage all stakeholders in the effective management of a claim including underwriting and senior leadership
- Confirming policy coverages, investigating claims to determine liability and quantum. Maintaining detailed file records.
- Fulfill specific service commitments made to certain accounts.
- Attending/participating in mediations, pre-trials and settlement initiatives.
- Settle claims directly with Plaintiff’s Counsel.
- Direct and Instruct Defence Counsel.
- Professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions, whether with customer, co-workers or vendors
- Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
- Strive to continually push the boundaries of your adjusting experience and personal learnings
- Team player adaptable to changing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently
What You Bring
- University degree, a college diploma or the CIP designation
- Minimum 3 years of claims handling experience, auto adjusting experience preferred.
- Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, whether with customers or co-workers
- Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
- Team player adaptable to a changing environment
- You’re dependable with strong interpersonal skills
- You have strong communication skills
- You’re focused on building engagement and culture
- Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills
- Bilingualism in both English and French or other languages is an asset
- Licensed in multiple provinces is an asset
Salary Range: $51,300 - $94,400
