Our client is seeking a Project Coordinator to support the Transmission Program Management team in planning and executing multiple high voltage transmission projects.

The Project Coordinator is accountable for coordinating the delivery of assigned projects and supporting a team of Project Managers in the delivery of all aspects of a project from inception through to close out, including: cost and schedule monitoring, scheduling crews, contract management, HSE reporting, quality management coordinating regulatory deliverables and records management.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver assigned projects, including permitting, construction, and commissioning of projects, within given timelines;
  • Interact with and support project managers and a portfolio of multiple projects ranging from low to high cost, complexity and duration;
  • Support records management for projects by keeping project records updated in a variety of software applications, including SharePoint, IVARA, and eScheduler;
  • Support portfolio scheduling by working with the project scheduler to provide updates to project schedules for inclusion in the TPM program’s Primavera schedule;
  • Use Oracle and Oracle Business Intelligence to support project procurement, vendor payments, project cost monitoring and project cost forecasting;
  • Support the Project Managers in the creation and evergreening of project documents, including project charters, project management plans, internal regulatory compliance documentation (CfCCs), project change requests and project close-out documentation;
  • Provide administrative support, such as organizing project meetings, recording action items, maintaining project issues logs, and filing and logging project safety documentation;
  • Support building project requests for proposals, bid evaluations, and contract formation;
  • Work with the Project Managers to ensure the safe execution of all projects by supporting hazard identification and safe work planning at all phases of a project;
  • Liaise with internal staff including engineering, procurement, project controls, and construction crews to ensure the smooth flow of deliverables between groups in support of efficient project execution;
  • Participate in field activities such as project field kick-offs, project walk-downs, and HSE inspections during construction; and,
  • Other duties that may be assigned consistent with the job description.
  • Well-organized, fast learner and able to be flexible in delivery method as conditions warrant;
  • Knowledge of transmission and distribution asset construction means and methods;
  • Strong safety focus and the ability to lead by example to set the tone and direction for health and safety focus on projects;

Education, experience and / or credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; or a relevant technical certificate or diploma;
  • 4 years of project management experience, preferably in a construction environment;
  • Experience with utility construction in energized substations and knowledgeable in the hazards and appropriate safe work practices;
  • Thorough understanding and experience of foundation Project Management processes and procedures aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge; and
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is highly desirable.
