Position Title: Facilitator, Y Mind Adult

Location: Virtual (Program is delivered entirely via Zoom, including training and induction)

Term: Temporary, Part-Time

Hours: 3.5 hours per week during program delivery

Shift: One evening per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, 5:30pm-9:00pm (schedule determined based on facilitator

availability)

Facilitator must be available for program delivery, which runs 10 weeks from September 28th to the end of November.

Must be available for program curriculum training and induction during September.

Start Date: September 08th, 2026

End Date: December 31st, 2026

Salary: $30.00 per hour

Reports To: Supervisor, Y Mind Adult

Nature & Scope

The YMCA Y Mind programs are early intervention, evidence-based programs which support people who experience symptoms of mild to moderate anxiety to learn coping strategies and connect with peers in a safe and encouraging group environment. The Y Mind Adult program (ages 31+) meets for 3.5 hours weekly for 7 weeks. Delivery is virtual and facilitators are required to work from home.

Reporting to the Y Mind Adult Supervisor, the Y Mind Group Facilitator will work collaboratively with other staff and participants. Two Y Mind facilitators are responsible for the intake and assessment of 12 group participants, co-facilitation of the program, and delivery of the program. The Y Mind Facilitator will co-lead this psychoeducation and support group with one other facilitator to help participants learn about their anxiety and discover helpful coping tools through creative activities and discussions grounded in mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). If program participants require additional support, the Y Mind Facilitator will provide appropriate community referrals.

Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will:

  • Intake of program applicants at information sessions.
  • Co-facilitate group sessions and create a warm, welcoming, and safe group environment.
  • Maintain a strengths-based approach that inspires participants to engage in self-development & change.
  • Organization of participant intake files and data for evaluation of program and other administrative program tasks as needed.
  • Support applicants and participants to contact appropriate referrals to community agencies when necessary.
  • Ensure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification-you bring:

  • Degree in the mental health field, counselling, or a related field.
  • Experience leading psychoeducation & support groups.
  • Experience working with mild – moderate anxiety with the age group.
  • Understanding of mindfulness and knowledge of mindfulness practices.
  • Experience with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) preferred.
  • Experience conducting intakes.
  • Ability to recognize mental health signs and symptoms beyond the mild to moderate spectrum and provide referrals to appropriate medical and community agencies.
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
