What you'll do

Reporting to the AVP, Gardening & Outdoor Tools, the successful candidate will be accountable for delivering sales growth and a robust assortment for Canadian Tire and our Associate Dealers through the development and execution of assortment, pricing & promotional plans and continuous improvement to our operations of the Garden Centre. This role is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in pushing forward our leadership in Lawn & Garden and provide greater benefit to our customers. This role will appeal to someone that is energized by solving new problems and who is entrepreneurial.

  • Develop a broad categorical understanding of its relative consumer trends, competitive & market analysis and CTR store executional nuances and requirements. Financial accountability for category through adherence to predefined CTR strategy objectives and guidelines

  • Support assortment analysis and product development in Live Plants

  • Setting & delivering against categorical assortment plans and evolve to customer centric measures

  • Planning, execution & delivery of assortment process which can include but is not limited to: approval of the assortment and pricing plans, vendor relationship/negotiation and overseeing timeline delivery

  • Define and execute against categorical promotional plans; including promotional item selection & offer to deliver against the plans and financial objectives

  • Provide content for store education on product/process education including Garden Centre and Live Plants

  • Develops, mentors, guides and coaches Category Business Analyst by setting clear performance objectives and providing ongoing and timely feedback.

What you bring

  • 5 years in Category Management experience and/or progressive growth in a relevant cross functional role. Previous experience in Horticulture is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business plans and initiatives that will achieve financial performance and operational targets.

  • Strong business acumen skills; demonstrated expertise of retail marketing, consumer trends, and assortment management.

  • Absolute commitment to delivering consumer-focused initiatives; possess superior innovation management skills.

  • Strong people management skills with demonstrated ability to develop others.

  • Superior leadership skills and presence; highly developed sense of accountability, passion and track record for delivering results.

  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills; regularly influences and persuades key stakeholders.

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to travel 1 - 2 weeks per year, including 2-3X per month visiting local growers and nurseries. Access to a vehicle would be ideal.

Broadband Salary Range: $81,000 – $131,000.


Our typical hiring range is between $95,000 and $120,000 Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements. For critical roles, the compensation offering will be reviewed to ensure alignment with market rate and conditions and the unique value you bring to the role.
