Job Description:

Note: This position is a term position for 22 months.

The Buyer I will report to the Manager, Contracts and Sourcing.

Responsibilities:

Create and manage purchase orders and ensure that commitments are met, and issues are resolved.
Support and manage the competitive bid process for materials and services including developing competitive bid documents, managing the bid process to ensure fairness and compliance, evaluating bids and making recommendations.
Create, negotiate and manage contracts to effectively manage AltaLink’s risk. Manage contract changes, amendments and dispute resolution.
Ensure successful supplier relationships including the identification and development of key suppliers.
Participate in process improvement initiatives.
Demonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars – one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability

Qualifications:

University bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance or other related disciplines.
Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), National Institute of Supply Chain Leaders (NISCL) or equivalent, is an asset; or working towards a supply chain designation.
Minimum of 3 years related experience in procurement or supply chain management.
Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
Background in electrical utilities industry an asset.
Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Good computer skills including experience with SAP and Oracle an asset.
Understanding of legal terms and conditions.
Good negotiation and decision-making skills.
Results oriented with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks.
Organization and time management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes;
Proven track record of good attendance and performance
