Location: Robert Lee YMCA (955 Burrard St, Vancouver, BC V6Z 1Y2)
Term: Full-Time Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Shift: Shift times will vary and include weekdays, evenings, and weekends
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 annually
Reports To: Center Manager

The Fitness Manager is responsible for the growth, leadership, and overall management of fitness programs and teams at the Robert Lee YMCA, including both staff and volunteers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that align with organizational goals and promote community well-being, while also supporting fitness programming across the Association. This role supervises a team of fitness professionals and volunteers, providing ongoing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure effective and consistent program delivery. In collaboration with senior management, the Fitness Manager implements strategic and operational changes, meets budgetary requirements, and continuously enhances program effectiveness, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging experience for all participants.
Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will:
- Design, develop, and implement a diverse range of fitness programs that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and community wellness priorities.
- Evaluate program performance and participant feedback to continuously improve offerings andmaintainhigh levelsof engagement and satisfaction.
- Supervise, coach, and support a team of fitness professionals and volunteers, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
- Provide onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development opportunities to ensure staff and volunteers deliver safe, effective, and high-quality services.
- Monitor and support the fitness department budget in collaboration with the Centre Manager, tracking expenses, revenue, and financial performance to meet established targets.
- Build andmaintainstrong relationships with members, community partners, and stakeholders through effective communication, outreach initiatives, and participation in community events.
- Oversee the daily operations of fitness programming at the Robert Lee YMCA, including scheduling, spaceutilization, and program coordination.
- Ensure all fitness areas and equipment are well-maintained, clean, and compliant with health, safety, and risk management standards.
- Identifyand implement opportunities for innovation, process improvement, and program growth to enhance the member experience and support overall organizational success.
Qualifications-you bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Sports Management
- Certifications in Group Fitness Leadership and Personal Training
- 3-5 years of experience in fitness management/ supervisory role
- Experience recruiting and leading volunteers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Budget management experience
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR‐C & AED certificate
- Access to vehicle for regular travel within the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
