We are currently searching for dedicated and passionate individuals to join our family at Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) ! As a Senior Program Leader, you’ll utilize your expertise and knowledge to contribute to the ongoing efforts of Toronto Community Housing to improve the neighborhoods and lives of residents of Toronto.

This year, Senior Program Leaders (SPL's) will play a key role in supporting on-the-ground communication and data collection to inform updates to TCHC’s Youth Strategy. SPL's will engage directly with tenants across TCHC communities to gather insights, perspectives, and lived experiences of youth and families. This will include conducting surveys, attending focus groups, and completing lobby intercepts to ensure a broad range of input. SPL's will also collaborate closely with staff involved in tenant engagement and community development to support coordinated outreach, strengthen relationships at the community level, and ensure the data collected meaningfully reflects tenant priorities.

Candidates are expected to work Monday to Friday between 10:00am and 6:00pm, up to 15 hours a week (Work start and end times may differ based off work needs).

What you’ll do

  • In conjunction with the Site Lead and Program Coordinator, you will identify resident’s needs for cultural, educational, recreational and social activities
  • Support the development and implementation of a variety of social and recreational activities meeting the needs of the community
  • Promote all TCHC lead programs and activities on an ongoing basis
  • Evaluate programs on an ongoing basis in conjunction with on-site staff
  • Responsible for community space during program hours, inclusive of reporting deficiencies to manager and securing space once program is complete
  • Ensure the recreation program operates safely
  • Liaise (if applicable) with front-line staff assigned to the portfolio to ensure cooperative programming
  • Supervise and provide ongoing support and direction to all on-site program staff
  • Conduct ongoing inventory and inform the Program Lead of supplies needed during the program
  • Participate in staff meetings, local and city wide events as directed by the manager
  • Maintain a co-operative relationship with other program and agencies within the community
  • Wear the official TCHC staff uniform and name tag while on duty
  • Ensure that final program report is completed at the end of the program and that all forms and supplies are handed in
  • Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and/or academic background in working in a community based setting
  • Experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation of community based programs
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach
  • Proven administrative skills
  • Proven organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in organizing, promoting and/or facilitation of special events
  • First Aid qualifications (minimum of Emergency First Aid) is an asset, or must be willing to obtain certificate prior to commencement of work assignment
