About Us:

Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) is dedicated to advancing the rights, culture, and well-being of Métis citizens across the province. We are committed to building responsive programs, strengthening governance, and delivering high-quality services to our communities.

About the Role:

The Early Learning Educator supports the holistic development of young children through culturally responsive, play-based learning rooted in Métis culture, language, and values. The educator creates a nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes children’s physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive growth while fostering a strong sense of identity and belonging within the Métis community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences that align with Métis views, the Early Learning Framework, and each child’s individual learning journey, ensuring inclusion, equity, and respect for diversity.
  • Integrate Métis culture into daily programming through Michif language, traditional teachings, stories, music, land-based learning, and culturally relevant materials, and collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, and community partners to strengthen cultural connections.
  • Observe, document, and assess children’s learning to inform curriculum planning, share learning stories with families, and collaborate with other professionals (e.g., Speech Pathologists, Teachers, Occupational Therapists, Behavioral Consultants) to support holistic development.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment that reflects Métis identity and meets all center policies, licensing requirements, and health and safety standards while modelling respectful relationships, positive communication, and cultural humility.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and ongoing growth by upholding organizational expectations (punctuality, conduct, dress), complying with all policies and procedures, and participating in continuous professional learning, including Michif language revitalization and early childhood education practices.

Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Level I, Level II or Level III certification (or equivalent qualification recognized by provincial standards).
  • Experience working in Indigenous or Métis early learning environments is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and culturally responsive pedagogy

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Provide high-quality childcare that reflects the philosophy of MN–S, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially, and creatively.
  • Apply strong early childhood education knowledge, including child development and support for children with diverse needs, while effectively managing multiple tasks and working well under pressure.
  • Integrate and uphold Métis culture by demonstrating knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Michif language and Métis cultural traditions, ensuring programming reflects cultural values and practices.

  • The Travel requirement for this position is 10%.

  • 95% employer paid benefits package including extended healthcare and dental.
  • Employer matching group RRSP.
  • 3 weeks' vacation.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
  • Cultural and language learning opportunities.

How to Apply:
