You want to play a front-line role in protecting the Bank against global sanctions risk and broader financial crime threats. You are motivated by complex, high-impact work and want to join a team working in a dynamic environment.

As an Analyst, Sanctions Operations, you will provide analysis and cross-sector activities that support the Bank’s compliance objectives. You will contribute to key initiatives related to global sanctions frameworks, anti–money laundering (AML), and counter-terrorist financing (CTF). You will join the Financial Crime Management team and report to the Senior Director, Global Sanctions Operations.

Your main challenges:

· Ensure compliance with applicable global sanctions requirements (Canadian and international), and with the Bank’s related policies, standards, and controls, including linkages to AML/CTF obligations.

· Detect, assess, and help prevent sanctions evasion and related financial crime, by conducting reviews and analyses of client and transaction monitoring.

· Maintain a strong understanding of international banking products and payment flows, particularly international transfers, and how sanctions apply across jurisdictions.

· Apply knowledge of Canadian and international sanctions regimes, including country risk, sanctions typologies, red flags, and evolving geopolitical drivers of sanctions exposure.

· Act as a trusted subject-matter expert with stakeholders to recommend actions, controls, and risk mitigation measures.

· Develop, review, and improve systems, tools, and operational processes to strengthen sanctions compliance and ensure quality outcomes.

· Identify irregularities, potential sanctions breaches, or control gaps and implement appropriate remediation and escalation.

· Participate in special projects and enterprise mandates requiring sanctions and financial crime expertise.

More specifically, you will:

· Support Senior Analyst / Advisors in advising stakeholders and supporting the execution of complex risk-management activities related to global sanctions compliance.

· Conduct research, gather information, and compile evidence to document files clearly and factually, in accordance with internal standards and regulatory expectations.

· Partner with business lines and operations teams to embed sanctions considerations into day-to-day activities and decisions.

· Maintain strong day-to-day risk management practices and contribute to the design and implementation of new systems and processes.

· Where required, report suspicious transactions to FINTRAC within regulatory timeframes using prescribed systems, recognizing potential intersections with sanctions-related typologies.

Profile sought:

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of relevant experience OR university certificate/undergraduate diploma and three years of relevant experience, OR a three-year college diploma (or equivalent) in a related field and four years of relevant experience.

· Customer service experience.

· Knowledge of international transfers.

· Knowledge of banking operations and products.

· Knowledge of AML/CTF legislation, regulations, and guidance (FINTRAC and OSFI).

· Knowledge of Canadian and international sanctions regimes, sanctions screening concepts, sanctions risk indicators, and escalation practices.

· Collaboration mindset, agility, and strong judgment.

· Versatility and ability to manage varied analyses under tight deadlines.

· Strong proficiency in Word and Excel.
