Job Summary

As a Farm Worker, you will be an integral part of the agricultural production process. You will assist in the cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of crops, as well as the care and management of livestock. This position requires working under the supervision of the Director of Community Services and collaborating closely with other team members to ensure the efficient and productive operation of the farm.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plant, water, and maintain crops according to established procedures.
  • Monitor plant health and identify signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
  • Apply fertilizers and pesticides as directed, following safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in harvesting crops when they reach maturity.
  • Feed, water, and care for livestock according to prescribed schedules.
  • Clean and maintain animal housing areas to ensure sanitary conditions.
  • Monitor animal health and promptly report any signs of illness or injury.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain fences, gates, and other farm infrastructure.
  • Assist with irrigation systems, including setup, monitoring, and repairs.
  • Help with basic construction or maintenance projects as needed.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Properly handle and dispose of chemicals, waste, and other materials in compliance with environmental standards.

Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) safely.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of agricultural practices, crop care, and machinery operation preferred.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, weekends, and during peak farming seasons.
  • Basic English communication skills for safety and teamwork purposes.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Primarily outdoor work in a farm setting, with exposure to varying weather conditions such as sun, rain, wind, and temperature extremes.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent standing, bending, lifting, carrying, walking on uneven terrain, and operating equipment.
  • Work Hours: Variable schedule depending on seasonal demands; may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Equipment Use: Regular use of farm machinery, tools, and vehicles, requiring adherence to safety procedures.
  • Safety Requirements: Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, boots, hats, and eye protection may be required.
  • Team Environment: Collaborative work with other farm workers and supervisors; occasional independent tasks.

Hours of Work

Your regular hours of work will be from 8:00am - 4:00pm for 7 hours per day from Monday to Friday and it is expected that all work will be completed within your regular working hours, however, you may be required from time to time to work outside your normal hours of work.
