Job Description:
This role primarily focuses on overseeing finance operations and driving process automation for Sun Life’s Asia Asset Management business. The role is expected to strengthen operational control, improve efficiency through the use of artificial intelligence and automation tools, and support management reporting and senior executive requests. The main responsibilities include the following:
- Oversee daily finance operations and month-end closing process, including journal entries, payments, billing, reconciliations, review of financial results, period-end activities, and internal controls, to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with reporting requirements
- Prepare and support management reporting deliverables, including profit and loss forecasts, actual vs budget analysis, assets under management analysis, and other recurring or ad hoc financial reports, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and relevant for management review and business planning
- Perform financial data analysis and address queries and information requests from senior management and cross-functional teams
- Apply accounting and investment accounting knowledge to review transactions, determine appropriate accounting treatment
- Support internal control activities, annual audits, and regulatory reporting (E.g. SFC FRR) to ensure compliance and strengthen the control environment
- Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging artificial intelligence and other digital tools to streamline processes, strengthen controls, and enhance operating efficiency
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects to enhance the finance operating model, improve process efficiency, and support evolving business and management requirements
Specialised knowledge and skills
- Strong accounting and investment accounting knowledge
- Strong understanding of finance operations, financial reporting, and internal control requirements
- Strong problem solving skills
- Able to influence stakeholders to adopt more efficient and standardized finance processes, including automation and new ways of working
- Hands-on experience in process automation, with the ability to leverage artificial intelligence and digital tools to improve efficiency and controls
- Knowledge of accounting systems and reporting tools, such as SAP, Hyperion, and advanced Excel, PowerPoint and AI tool
- Strong analytical, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to requests from senior executives
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Education and experience
- University graduate in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related disciplines
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, preferably with consultancy background
- Qualified CPA is preferred
- Strong experience in finance operations, management reporting, and process improvement or automation
- Experience in liaising with auditors, regulatory reporting, and handling senior management requests is required
- Solid accounting knowledge and investment accounting experience are required
