What makes this sector different

Grow your way — four professional tracks

Business & admin is the rare field where one diploma opens several doors. From your first role you can branch toward whichever profession fits you. Each is its own path, with its own credential.

Optional · pick your direction

Start here — your Business / Office Admin diploma

First roles: admin assistant, coordinator, CSR, AP/AR clerk. Works in every industry — and opens all four tracks below.

Bookkeeping

CPB designation

For: the numbers-minded who like AP/AR and want to own the books. Credential: CPB (Certified Professional Bookkeepers of Canada). Often $60–80K with experience.

Human Resources

CPHR / CHRL

For: the people-person drawn to HR and coordination. Credential: CPHR across most of Canada; Ontario uses CHRP/CHRL via HRPA. Opens HR-manager advancement.

Project Management

PMP certification

For: the organizer who runs the show. Credential: PMP (PMI — a global certification with active Canadian chapters). Turns "coordinator" into "project manager."

Accounting

CPA designation

For: the long-game ambitious, including newcomers with foreign accounting backgrounds. Credential: CPA — requires a degree + the CPA PEP. The path toward controller/CFO; ~$140K+ median (CPA Canada, 2023).

These are separate professions, each with its own requirements — and you do not need any of them to build a great career on your diploma alone. They're how you specialize and grow. Earnings vary; this is not career or financial advice. CanCareer helps you land the role that starts you on whichever track you choose.
