We’re hiring a Contact Engineer at our Fort Hills site to support plant performance, troubleshoot process issues, and drive optimization in our operations. If you’re an Engineer with operating plant experience and strong process engineering expertise, we want to hear from you!

Minimum Requirements:
Five years of experience as a Chemical/Process Engineer supporting an operating plant in heavy oil or refining
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Familiar with P&ID's, process flow diagrams, and other process related documentation
Experience facilitating risk assessment, and participating in hazard and operability studies (HAZOP)
Knowledge of fluid hydraulic calculations, HYSYS and computer-based hydraulic packages
Experience in Paraffinic Froth Treatment is an asset
Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:
Support expense projects and process changes, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide support to ensure that operational targets are met, required corrective actions are communicated and perform effective follow ups
Perform technical investigations and root cause analysis and provide technical feedback and recommendations to return the plant to normal operation after upsets
Facilitate risk assessments and provide technical support for risk reviews
Perform required studies, problem definitions, and calculations for plant optimization
Develop tools to improve both process and equipment monitoring and performance projection
Perform calculations to evaluate process conditions, production losses, emissions, spills and chemical forecasts
Perform walk downs, field verifications, as built mark ups, and in-field tasks as required
Provide technical support for tasks such as regulatory reporting, operational procedure reviews, management of change (MOC) execution, bottleneck identification and plant turnarounds
Handle development and maintenance of process engineering documents and tools such as; piping and instrumentation diagrams ((P&ID), specs and targets, safe operating limits, and heat and material balance
Collaborate and communicate with the Calgary based team, cross shift, and Fort Hills stakeholders to ensure success of the FIFO operating model
Location and Other Key Details:
You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometers' north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
This is a Fly-in/Fly-out (FIFO) camp-based position; you will FIFO
(Fly-in Fly-out) from Calgary or Edmonton, or BIBO (Bus-in-Bus-out) for Fort McMurray residents
The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation ; 12 hour shifts
