What is the opportunity?

The Senior Engineer, SailPoint Engineering will play a critical role in designing, building, scaling, and securing RBC’s enterprise identity lifecycle and access management platforms. This position is central to advancing RBC’s digital identity strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and enabling seamless, secure access for employees, customers, and partners.

As a leader, you will be accountable for solution design, engineering standards, operational excellence, and delivery of SailPoint capabilities across the bank. You will collaborate with security, compliance, and application teams to deliver innovative identity solutions at scale.

What will you do?

Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide technical mentorship to SailPoint engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Define the engineering roadmap for SailPoint Access Manager, aligning with RBC’s IAM strategy and enterprise architecture.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, and operational requirements.

Engineering & Delivery

  • Design, develop, integrate, and deploy SailPoint Access Manager capabilities, including identity lifecycle management, provisioning, access requests, and certification campaigns.
  • Drive automation and standardization of IAM processes to improve reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are secure by design, with strong controls for data in transit and at rest.
  • Manage release cycles, incident escalations, and production stability for mission-critical IAM services.

Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to RBC’s risk, compliance, and audit frameworks.
  • Partner with governance teams to provide evidence, metrics, and reporting for regulatory compliance (e.g., SOX, OSFI, FRB/MRA).
  • Proactively identify and remediate technology risks, technical debt, and process gaps.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with application custodians, platform teams, and business owners to onboard applications into SailPoint Access Manager.
  • Work with security architecture and threat management teams to evaluate and implement emerging IAM technologies.
  • Provide transparent communication to stakeholders, including program health, risks, and delivery outcomes.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Deep expertise in SailPoint IdentityNow / IdentityIQ or equivalent IAM platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of identity lifecycle management, provisioning, entitlements, role-based access control (RBAC), and certification campaigns.
  • Solid technical foundation in REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud-native architecture (AWS/Azure).
  • Proven track record of driving large-scale IAM implementations and managing operational stability.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and reporting skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Identity & Access Management (IAM), with at least 5 years in SailPoint engineering or architecture.
  • Experience delivering enterprise-grade, high-availability IAM solutions in a regulated industry (financial services preferred).

Nice-to-have

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Certifications: SailPoint IdentityIQ Engineer/Architect, CISSP, CISM, or AWS/Azure Cloud certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with Privileged Access Management (CyberArk), Entra ID/Azure AD, or Okta.
  • Exposure to microservices, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML use cases in IAM (e.g., anomaly detection, identity drift tracking).
  • Previous experience working in global-scale IAM programs within a top-tier financial institution.

What’s in it for you?
We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
  • A world-class training program in financial services
  • Flexible work/life balance options
