1. Who We Are

CanCareer is operated by 1566673 B.C. Ltd., a British Columbia company doing business as CanCareer (“CanCareer”, “we”, “us”). Mailing address: 5307 Victoria Drive #1366, Vancouver, BC V5P 3V6, Canada. Support: hello@cancareer.com. Privacy requests: privacy@cancareer.com.

2. Acceptance and Eligibility

By creating an account or using CanCareer (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be legally capable of entering into a binding contract where you live. If your access is provided through a partner organization’s program, that program’s rules (including its eligibility and age requirements) also apply to you. Paid subscriptions are not currently offered to residents of Quebec; the free Service remains available across Canada.

3. The Service

CanCareer helps job seekers run their job search: application tracking, AI-assisted resume and cover-letter generation and scoring, a job board with automated matching, voice-based interview practice, and program tools for partner organizations. The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may add or change features; if a change materially reduces what your paid plan includes, we treat it as an adverse change under Section 18.

4. Your Account

You sign in with an email magic link or GitHub. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address or GitHub account, and for activity under your account.

5. Plans, Prices and Billing

The free plan includes a monthly allowance of analyses, generated documents, and practice interviews. Paid plans: Pro at $9.99 CAD per month and Pro Unlimited at $19.99 CAD per month. Prices exclude applicable taxes, which are shown and added at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe; your access starts immediately on payment. Annual plans are not currently offered. If you subscribed to an annual plan before this page’s date, your subscription continues to renew annually until you cancel, under the terms in place when you subscribed.

6. Fair Use

Some paid features are described as “unlimited.” Unlimited features are intended for normal, human use of the Service and are subject to fair-use ceilings set well above what a person actively job-searching would reach. Automated, scripted, or otherwise abusive use may be throttled, and we may suspend accounts that repeatedly exceed fair use. If you hit a fair-use ceiling, it resets at the start of the next calendar month.

7. Renewal and Cancellation

Monthly plans renew each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time, without any charge or penalty, in the billing portal (Account → Manage billing) or by emailing hello@cancareer.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.

8. Refunds

We do not refund the unused portion of a billing period when you cancel, except where applicable law requires a refund. Nothing in this section (or these Terms) limits any right you have to a refund under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (British Columbia) or other consumer protection law that applies to you.

9. Organization Programs

Some people use CanCareer through an employment-services organization. That access is governed by a written agreement between CanCareer and the organization (including any pilot agreement). Organization staff, such as program managers and career specialists, can see your program participation: your roster record, application progress, resumes they review for coaching, and program scorecard data. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

10. Your Content

Resumes, applications, and other content you submit remain yours. You grant CanCareer a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, and display that content solely to operate, provide, and improve the Service for you, and you waive moral rights only to the extent needed for us to reformat or edit content at your direction and as permitted by law. You confirm you have the rights to the content you submit. We do not use your content to train AI models.

11. AI Features

Resume and cover-letter generation, scoring, matching, and interview practice are produced by AI. To the extent we hold any rights in output generated for you, we assign them to you. AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete and may resemble output generated for others — review everything before sending it to an employer. We do not guarantee interviews, offers, or any employment outcome, and the Service is not professional, legal, or career-counselling advice. CanCareer is a tool for job seekers: we do not screen, assess or select applicants on behalf of any employer. Please avoid entering information you do not want processed, such as your SIN or health details.

12. Job Postings and Matching

Job postings shown in CanCareer are collected from employers’ public career sites and may be inaccurate, out of date, or withdrawn. Listing a posting does not mean the employer is affiliated with or endorses CanCareer. Matching is automated; the Privacy Policy explains the main factors and how to ask a person to review a match.

13. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any law.
  • Scrape, mirror, or extract data belonging to other users, or bulk-harvest the job board.
  • Submit applications in bulk to jobs you do not intend to pursue, or use the Service to spam employers.
  • Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.

14. Communications

We send transactional email (sign-in links, receipts, service notices) and, if enabled, job-match digests and reminders. Digests and reminders include an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing from them does not stop transactional email needed to run your account.

15. Termination

You can stop using the Service and request deletion of your data at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate an account for a material breach of these Terms or a security risk to other users; in that case the current paid period is not refunded. If we terminate a paid subscription without cause, we will refund the prorated unused portion. Sections 10, 16, 17, 19, and 20 survive termination.

16. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Nothing in these Terms excludes, limits, or waives rights, benefits, or protections you have under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (British Columbia) or other applicable consumer protection law that cannot be limited by contract. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CanCareer’s aggregate liability for claims arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. This limit does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded by law (including under consumer protection legislation) or to our fraud or wilful misconduct.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may amend these Terms: the service description (Section 3), plans, fair use, and pricing (Sections 5–8), features, acceptable use (Section 13), communications (Section 14), and the legal sections (16–20). If you have a paid subscription and a change increases your obligations or reduces ours, we will email you at least 30 and at most 60 days before it takes effect, with the new text and a plain explanation, and you may cancel without charge or penalty before it applies. We will not change your cancellation or refund rights to your detriment unilaterally. For free accounts, the “Last updated” date reflects the latest revision and material changes are summarized at the top of this page.

19. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. You and CanCareer may bring claims in the courts of British Columbia, and this is a non-exclusive choice: you may also bring a claim in the courts or tribunals of the province where you live, in small claims court, or (where it has jurisdiction) the BC Civil Resolution Tribunal, and nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protections of the place where you live.

20. Severability and Survival

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the unenforceable part applies to the maximum extent permitted.
