The Financial Analyst is a key contributor to the Retail Investments FP&A team, supporting capital investment decisions across Canadian Tire’s national retail network of over 1,600 locations. This role provides financial modelling, forecasting, and analytical support for store and non-store investment initiatives, including expansions, relocations, remodels, and broader retail programs.
Working closely with senior team members, you will support the development of business cases, evaluate investment opportunities, and contribute to data-driven insights that inform capital allocation decisions. This role offers strong learning and development opportunities, with increasing exposure to senior leadership as experience and confidence grow.
What You’ll Do:
Support the preparation of Cost Benefit Analyses for retail investment projects, contributing to the evaluation of proposed initiatives
Build and maintain financial models in Excel, including discounted cash flow analysis (IRR, NPV, and payback) with guidance from senior team members
Assist in developing multi-year forecasts and cash flow projections based on key operating and capital assumptions
Analyze financial performance and key drivers of returns through scenario and sensitivity analysis
Prepare reporting, commentary, and presentation materials to support senior leadership discussions and investment decisions
Support the refinement and updating of financial models as project assumptions, scope, and timelines evolve
Conduct post-implementation reviews to compare actual performance against forecasts and identify key variances and learnings
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Real Estate, Operations, and Business Units, to gather inputs and support analysis
Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis to support team and leadership requests
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial modelling, forecasting, and reporting processes, including leveraging automation and emerging tools
Build foundational skills in financial storytelling and presentation, with opportunities to contribute to and gradually participate in senior forums over time
What You Bring:
University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline
Professional designation (CPA, CFA, or equivalent) in progress or interest in pursuing is an asset
1–3 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, accounting, or a related field
Foundational financial modelling skills, with an understanding of discounted cash flow concepts and investment analysis
Experience supporting forecasts, reporting, or business case development is an asset
Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Power BI, SQL, and HFM is an asset
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a desire to understand business drivers and financial outcomes
Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly present analysis to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work
Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Growth mindset with a willingness to learn, take on new challenges, and develop advanced analytical and modelling capabilities

Broadband Salary Range: 53,000– 88,000.
Typical hiring range is between 53,000and 70,000. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements. For critical roles, the compensation offering will be reviewed to ensure alignment with market rate and conditions and the unique value you bring to the role.
